Bugger me gently, Matron! Why didn't I think earlier. Pater used to shoot big cats from his porch with one of these when we were out in Kenya, supposedly out there shooting Mau-mau. A W.J. Jeffery .500 cal double barreled rifle, no less!

I am opposed to big game hunting having been a wildlife artist. These rich bastards that pay big bucks to go out and cowardly kill these animals to satisfy their blood lust, is immoral. To cull animals that are a pest, or over populating an area may be a different matter. Anaesthetizing and moving a troublesome animal should be considered, and of killing an animal for food is, of course, acceptable. It's these big mouthed cunts that smear blood on their faces that deserve to be hunted. It would be good to see one of them blown apart by a .50 cal slug.

I have no problem with big game hunters provided they actually hunt, and not merely participate as the shooter, during an arranged slaughter, where the game has no chance of escape. A true hunter wants to actually locate, track and pursue his prey. The joy is in the hunting process, not merely bagging an animal for a head to hang on the wall or a skin to drape on the floor. A sportsman likes a trophy for a hard fought victory in a match, not merely participating or being a spectator. And with big game hunting, a true hunter demands an element of danger to himself. Bagging a big cat from a Land Rover or a howdah atop an elephant is not sport. That is merely being an executioner. Personally, I would prefer being armed with just a camera, on a hunting safari.
